"Season of Power Failure"

“To everything there is a Season”

Ecc. 3:1

Dear Beloved:

The question is not if we will experience a power failure, but when?  Each of us have already had power failures in many different areas.  Unfortunately, some people have lived their spiritual lives with a power failure mind set.  What are the signs of spiritual power failure?

  1. A weak or bankrupt prayer life.
  2. Lack of spiritual focus, zeal and passion.
  3. A spiritual dryness and dullness.
  4. Disinterest in spiritual matters.
  5. No progress or benefits from your spiritual walk.
  6. Ineffectiveness in spiritual responsibilities and spiritual assignments.
  7. Lack of completion and obedience to spiritual authority over you.
  8. Carnal and fleshly desires have priority over spiritual matters.
  9. Unable to remain focused and steadfast in seasons of delay.
  10. Falling into emotional rage and frustration when under attack, persecution or trials.
  11. No power to overcome sin, bad habits or previous issues.
  12. Losing sight of vision and purpose, and falling into weariness and weakness.
  13. Giving up, backing up and quitting in times of difficulty, hardships and pain.
  14. Unable to handle rebuke, correction, or change due to being closed minded and shut down.
  15. Very defensive, complaining, and making excuses.

These are only a few examples of when you are experiencing spiritual power failure.  These signs are indicators of a spiritual decline and loss of altitude.

Let us turn to God’s word and see an example of power failure in the scriptures.  Apostle Peter and the other disciples were washing their nets from fishing all night. Luke 5:3-5 says, “Then He (Jesus) got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s and asked him to put out a little from the land.  And He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat.  When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.  But Simon answered Him, Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; but nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.”   Peter was experiencing a power failure.  He was frustrated, tired, overwhelmed, disappointed and lacking faith.  He felt defeated and like a failure in his own profession.  He became dull of hearing and defensive regarding the Lord’s command to him.  He felt like what’s the point I have already tried and there is no benefit.  He was unfocused and unwilling to try again.  Peter did not know that this was a spiritual test, an assignment from God.
Are you ready for your next season? Are you going through a power failure?
